Working Principle of the Hydroponic Fodder System

In simple terms, the hydroponic fodder system works by creating a controlled growing environment where seeds can quickly sprout and grow into fresh green fodder without using soil.

1. Seeds are placed into growing trays

Seeds such as barley, wheat, and alfalfa are usually soaked first and then evenly spread in perforated growing trays. These trays are often arranged in multi-layer racks to save space and support centralized cultivation.

2. Automatic watering and spraying

The system uses spraying devices, circulating water systems, or timed watering methods to provide the seeds and roots with the moisture needed for growth. Since it is a soilless cultivation process, the seeds mainly rely on water and their own stored nutrients during the early growth stage.

3. Temperature and humidity control

The machine can regulate the internal temperature and humidity through components such as air conditioners, water coolers, and ventilation devices. This helps create a more stable environment for plant growth and reduces the influence of outside weather conditions.

4. Light support for growth

Some systems are equipped with LED plant growth lights. When natural light is limited or the structure is enclosed, the lighting system helps maintain normal plant growth.

5. Drainage and ventilation

Excess water can be discharged through the drainage holes in the trays to avoid water accumulation. At the same time, proper ventilation inside the system helps improve the growing condition and supports more stable cultivation.

6. Fast sprouting and harvest

Under suitable settings, the seeds gradually sprout, root, and develop into fresh green fodder. In most cases, the fodder can be harvested in about 3 to 7 days, depending on the seed type and growing conditions.
